Well, one highpoint has to be the ugliest. This one gets my
vote. The peak is adorned with several communication towers
and an abandoned fire tower. It is wooded and there is no view.
The cleared area around the towers is weedy and littered with
broken glass and used condoms. Unfortunately this type of
stewardship of natural areas is all too common in Eastern
Kentucky.
The directions in the Holmes book, (first edition), are quite
clear and although he didn't mention the final left turn after
the FAA facility, the way is obvious. A U.S.G.S. marker is
found on a nearby rock outcrop.
