We took the easy route to the top, the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
The scenery above tree line in the White Mountains is
absolutely gorgeous. It can also be deadly. It's easy to see
why so many unwary hikers have died in this area. At the
bottom the weather was pleasant and near 70 degrees. When we
got to the top we were faced with 20-degree temperatures and
50-mile-per-hour winds. When you go, be sure to check out the
tongue-in-cheek video in the gift shop of the guy being
served breakfast on the patio while ferocious winds are blowing.
It's a scream!
